I am trying to prove that Mary V. BROWN, from Preble Co. was the daughter of Mahlon BROWN, a Quaker. She married out of unity a Henderson Smiley BROWN (no relation) from Kentucky. He was the son of Benjamin and Mary BROWN . I have searched Hinshaw, and found the record of their marriage, but can't prove her own parentage, other than the fact that a Mary V. Brown is listed as a daughter of said Mahlon and his wife, Alice. If I could find what the V. stood for, it would be a help, since the name "Virgin" came down in that family for several generations.

She may be a descendant of James HARRIS of Hamilton County, Ohio, who entered Dixon Township (R1,T7,S1) on 2-16-1809. I am currently looking for a will or obit that will tie Hannah to this family. She may be the descendant of Robert HARRIS who was in Dixon Twsp, Preble Co., OH, in the 1830 census, Somers Twsp (Camden is in Somers) Preble CO, in 1840 and 1850 census.
